Wu Hits The Streets

Come Monday, watch out for Jason Wu all over lower Manhattan. The designer is set to paper downtown guerrilla-style with his Willy Vanderperre-photographed images, starring Julia Frauche wearing his fifties couture-inspired shapes from his Spring ‘12 collection. Before you spot them on the street, Style.com has the exclusive first look at the poster (above).

Target, Jason and the "Wu Girls" Hit Skylight Soho

A rainy nook of nowhere-man’s land on Hudson Street—aka Skylight Soho—morphed into a charming Parisian playland for the launch of Jason Wu for Target last night. Laduree macarons, dished up for immediate nibbling and beautifully boxed as a takeaway treat? Check. Trompe-l'œil shutters, windows, and the ilk in the vein of Madeline scrawled on the walls? Of course! A high-energy performance Yelle, by France's fave "melancholic dance music" outfit? Done and done.

Global Influence

There were movie stars on the runway at Miuccia Prada’s menswear show in Milan tonight, but with apologies to Mrs. P, she had nothing on the red carpet at the 69th annual Golden Globes in Hollywood. And for sheer star power, no one came close to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the former in Atelier Versace and the latter in Salvatore Ferragamo. Angie went home empty-handed (her directoral debut, In The Land of Blood and Honey, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film and lost), but she won the evening's best-dressed competiton, no contest.

The New Target

These days, there are certain designer milestones that indicate success—collaborating with Target has become one of them. Fresh from rolling out its latest designer collaboration with Jason Wu, the Minneapolis-based megastore is wasting no time tapping the nation’s latest style stars. Today, it unveiled its new design partnership project, dubbed The Shops at Target.

Wu Season

“Growing up, I always admired Yves Saint Laurent because he never cared about what was in fashion,” Jason Wu said last night, at the Waldorf Astoria, of the masterful designer who served as inspiration to him in the early days of his career. “He was fashion,” Wu added before heading to the stage to accept his YMA Future of Fashion Award.

A Moment With...Jason Wu (and Karlie, too!)

At last evening’s YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund’s 75th annual Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship dinner soiree at the Waldorf=Astoria, The Daily caught up with Jason Wu, the evening’s honoree, about his Target shopping tendencies, sense of humor, and penchant for trail mix. Also! Wu’s date, Karlie Kloss, divulged Wu’s “high rolling” sporty aptitude. Strike!
