Halston's NYFW Return Next Year

In the midst of making that NYFW Fall 2012 list and checking it twice, here's a runway return to add to next February's schedule: Halston will be back in action on the New York catwalk circuit next February.

On Friday, March 9, 2012, the third annual DVF Awards will take place at the United Nations in New York during Newsweek & The Daily Beast's Women in the World Summit held March 8-10 at Lincoln Center. Touchdown For Puglisi

Remember those colorful wool crepe minidresses Anna Dello Russo was spotted wearing at the Couture shows this past summer and then again during New York fashion week in September? As it turns out, ADR isn’t the only one who took a liking to Milanese designer Fausto Puglisi’s Grecian cheerleader dresses—Madonna enlisted the designer to create Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.’s wardrobes for their Super Bowl halftime show yesterday.

Fashion Week, Turned Up To 11

Every New York fashion week is filled with its fair share of memorable performances, both at shows and at the host of after-parties. This week should be no exception. On Thursday night, the Citizens Band, spearheaded by Karen Elson and Sarah Sophie Flicker, is set to turn Milk Studios into a sexy boudoir for their burlesque-style performance in Erickson Beamon’s “Deca-Dance” presentation.

The Fresh Crop

It was all about the Super Bowl for most people this weekend, but not for the models walking in New York fashion week, who were busy shuttling to and from back-to-back castings. Andrew Weir (who casts for Thakoon, Jen Kao, and Rebecca Taylor) can spot a potential star from across a room, and there were plenty of them at his ACW casting call on Saturday. “Do they even know they have these crazy bodies?” he said, referring to Lithuanian stunner Aiste Regina. But it was Roberta Narciso, an Elite agency contest winner with mile-long legs, who really caught Weir’s eye.

Madonna’s Hail Mary

New York is triumphant, Gisele disappointed: The Giants walked away with a new Super Bowl ring last night. But for the legions of fashion fans tuning in last night, it was the halftime show that was the main event. Madonna delivered a rousing (if potentially lip-synched) performance that incorporated plenty of old hits, including “Vogue,” “Open Your Heart,” and “Like a Prayer,” along with her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” for a ten-minute-plus medley that ended with a full-on gospel choir. Along the way, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., and Cee-Lo Green all made appearances. (M.I.A.

It's an IPO for Brunello Cucinelli!

(NEW YORK) Brunello Cucinelli threw his hat into the public ring today. The cashmere king has requested a spot on the Italian Stock Exchange to sell a third of his eponymous company, with the help of MedioBanca and BofA Merrill Lynch as global coordinators. Cucinelli has been mulling over the idea of an IPO for almost nine months, and now is apparently as good a time as any. In 2010, the premium brand saw a 27 percent turnover while net income reached over $23 million, an 83 percent increase from the previous year.

Filson Taps Richard Chai

It was only a matter of time until Filson, the purveyor of classic rugged outerwear touting a "might as well have the best" slogan, would scoop up one of the industry's finest: Richard Chai. The Seattle-centered company has tapped the New York native as their newest creative director after the designer approached the brand with a simple concept of adding modern twists to Filson classic, from the quintessential wool bomber to the traveling duffle.
